THE WAITAKERES.

Sir, —In the Herald of September 12 is described in full the allocation of the moneys to be immediately spent by the Auckland City Council on the unemployment relief works in areas indicated. Without going into the question of the wisdom of so much money being spent upon one particular class of development, the sports ground typo, one would" like to voice again the wishes of many of the frequenters of the Waitakere Hills and coastwise. The area referred to is that part of road approximately four miles'past the Nihotupu post office. A few hundreds spent in straightening some bad bends and laying of suitable metal of correct .%• size and other minor improvements would greatly encourage motorists of a desirable type to avail themselves of the Nihotupu. Henderson round-trip and also the bays of Anawhata and Piiia, where week-enda could be arranged. Experienced - labour is procurable in the district, which, when supplemented with good unemployed men, would finish the work in ample time for the summer traffic.
