BEAUTIFYING SCHOOLS.
GROWTH OF INTEREST SHOWN
EXPERIENCE IN OTAGO.

Among the matters reported to tho Otago Education Board by the senior instructor in agriculture, Mr. E. S. Green, was the increasing interest of school committees, teachers and pupils in the Otago district in the improvement of the school environment. Ho expressed tho opinion that it was now generally recognised that beautiful school surroundings exerted an influence, the effects of which could scarcely bo overestimated. The results of work in recent years in this direction' wero becoming apparent in an over-increas-ing number of schools.
