SEVERAL INVENTIONS.
" NO NEED FOR SEASICKNESS."
LONDON, Sept. 11. "No one need suffer sea-sickness," is the claim of the makers of an apparatus exhibited at the Shipping and Engineering Machinery Exhibition at Olympia.. Voyagers inhaling five minutes before the voyage a mixturo of oxygen and medicaments from an atomiser are guaranteed complete immunity. If tlio mixturo is taken after tho symptoms are shown, an. effective fcure is claimed in 85
per cent, of cases^ Tho exhibits includo a "magic ray," and an automatic lookout which rings a bell instantly if any object, even a fogbank, crosses the ship's path.
Other inventions designed to improve the human element, includo an instrument on' tho bridge,, sensitive to the slightest smoke, for detecting fires in the hol^l—after which tho pressuro of a button on tho bridgo floods tho hold—extinguishing gas, a pistol extinguisher claimed to be ablo to put out a 20ft. blaze, and a fire-proofing preparation which makes woodwork proof against an oxyacetyleno flame.
