RADIO BROADCASTING.
Sir, —A concert is to be relayed from tho Waitomo Caves, and a company of performers is to be specially sent there for tho purpose. As a listener I strongly protest against this flagrant waste 'of listeners' money. Will the officials of the Radio Broadcasting Company tell us what difference or advantage listeners gain by having a programme relayed from the Waitomo Caves instead of direct from the studio ? I say absolutely none; it is a stupidly wasteful, expensive and useless stunt. The disadvantage is that a sum of anything up to £SO of listeners' good money is being wasted in giving the station director and a few favoured performers a picnic. - As a listener, speaking for thousands of others in this province, I confidently tell the Radio Broadcasting Company that its own interests and revenue had. been considerably enhanced, and listeners given greater pleasure and satisfaction, had that £SO been : spent in helping'to place .the Municipal Band on the air. I have it on good authority that only a small matter of £SO stands in the way of that desirable consummation. We listeners want the Municipal Band, and the sooner the realises the fact the sooner will it show itself alive to its own and the listeners' i best interests. Con Moxo. I
