DICKENS FELLOWSHIP.
HUMOUR AMONG VILLIANS.
Thero was a large attendance at tho meoting of tho Auckland Dickens Fellowship last evening, when tho programme, arranged by Mr. G. G. Grant, was entitled "The Comic Side of Dickens' Villians." Mr. Grant's introduction wajs followed by tho following readings:—"A Sally by Sally Brass" ("Old Curiosity Shop"), Miss Harosnapo;"The Resurrection of Quilp" ("Old Curiosity Shop"), Mr. W. Mervyn Lusty; "Good Mrs. Brown" ("Dombey and Son"), Mrs. For rest; "Carker, tho Manager" ("Dombey and Son"), Miss Cutler; "Mr. Squcers Comos Homo" ("Nicholas Nickolby"), Mr. W. E. Arey; "A Squcers' Family interlude" ("Nicholas Nickelby"), Mr. T. Clarkson; "Stryver's Subtlety" ("Tale of Two Cities"), Miss Adcock; "Jerry Cruncher—Tradesman" ("Tale of Two Cities"), Dr. Kenneth Gordon. Mr. W. E. Arey, a vice-president, presided. The subject for the next meeting, which will bo in the hands of Mr. C. Kidson, will bo "An Evening with Mrs. Lirriper."
