PREACHERS IN STREET.
MUSIC DEALER'S COMPLAINT.
"INTERFERING WITH 'BUSINESS."
[us* tbleohath.—own correspondent.]
HAMILTON. Thursday
A complaint that "loud and excited oratory" was interfering with his business was made by a gramophone dealer in a letter received at a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last evening. The Writer asked that preachers and public speakers should be prevented from holding meetings in Ward Street on Friday evenings.
The Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, said ho considered that the demonstrations wcro conducted in a most doleful manner, but that it was unfair to discriminate between the various speakers. He expressed sympathy with the trader. Consideration of the matter was deferred.
