GREAT PARAFFIN FIRE.
500,000 GALLON TANK.
OUTBREAK AT HULL PORT.
EXPLOSION STARTS FLAMES.

A lerrific fire is burning nt Jledon, the now oil port of Hull, where .'ill the big oil stores arc concentrated.
Tho outbreak followed an explosion in tho Anglo-American Oil Company's 500,000 gallon tank of paraffin. The roof was blown lo fragments. Windows were shattered and workmen wcro thrown down.
An immenso wall of flame shot upwards hundreds of feet, enveloping a wide area in a pall of black smoke. All the available chemicals in Hull were collected to fight the flames. Fire brigades were summoned from a distanco of 50 miles.
Tho burning tank is one of a cluster of 18. Water has been successfully played on tho others to prevent their ignition. It is estimated that tho tank which is on firo will tako 48 hours to burn out.

Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received September 18, 8.45 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 18. The oil tank firo at Hull was still burning furiously this morning. Tho flames reached a height of 40ft. to 50ft. Officials of the Anglo-American Oil Company havo arrived on tho scene by aeroplane from London. Tons of fireextinguishing chemicals wero despatched from London, also chemical fire-engines.
