MAORI PRONUNCIATION.
CORRECT USE IN SCHOOLS.
ACTION BY THE DEPARTMENT.
Stating that its attention had been drawn to tho desirability of securing tho corroct pronunciation of Maori names in schools, tho Education Department advised tho Auckland Education Board yesterday that it had devoted to this matter a section of one of its pamphlets to schools. It was further stated that where there were Maoris in tho vicinity of a.teachers' training college a few lessons from one of them would bo of great uso. The department would be pleased to consider any proposals made along such' lines. The letter was received and it was decided to bring tho matter under tho notico of tho principal of the Auckland Training College.
