POLICE COURT NEWS.
THEFT FROM EMPLOYER.
MAN PLACED ON PROBATION. Charged with stealing 16 gramophone records, valued at £4, Everard Storas Braitlnvaite, aged 29, a clerk, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court on Saturday. Mr. Moody, wlio represented accused, entered a plea of guilty. Chief-Detective Hammond said accused had stolen tho records from his employer's home when engaged as a gardener. They were subsequently found in his room. Accused had one previous conviction in 192,5.
The probation officer, Mr. W. J. Campbell, suggested accused should be given another chance. He had known Braithwaito since ho was' a boy, and he had received a splendid education. The magistrate placed Braitlnvaite on probation for three years. The theft of kumaras, valued at lOd, was admitted by Gordon John Gower, aged 27, a mechanic. Accused was convicted and ordered to coino up for sentence if called upon within six months. Pleading guilty to the theft of articles valued at 5s 6d from a restaurant, Mary Ann Boyle, aged 49, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months.
