WHARF ACCIDENTS.

INJURIES TO TWO MEN.

FALLS INTO THE HARBOUR. Two. very similar accidents, in which men were injured through falling from ships to the water and striking the wharf piles, occurred on the waterfront yesterday.

Mr. A. Ellis, aged 27, a seaman on the Marama, which is undergoing overhaul at Central Wharf, slipped and fell from the port side of the vessel into the harbour yesterday morning Two waterside workers, Messrs. Torn Sullivan and L. Lasher, jumped over the side to his rescue and brought him to the wharf. He was then unconscious. Artificial respiration was applied by the St. John Ambulance men, who then took him to the Hospital, where lie was found to be suffering from injuries to the back, sustained in falling. At a late hour the condition of Mr. Ellis was regarded as fairly serious. Mr. Ellis is single.

While going ashore fioiu the small steamer Onewa at Prince's Wliawf yesterday afternoon, the master, Mr 11. Bradney, of Messrs. Bradney and Biniis. slipped and fell from the gangway. As lie fell he struck the wharf and received injuries to the back. He was taken to the hospital by the St. John Ambulance. His condition is not regatded as serious. Mr. Bradney, who is aged 49, is married, residing at 18, Edwin Street, Newton.
