AT HOME AT Y.W.C.A.

Two objectives were achieved in combination at a very pleasant function held in the Y.W.C.A. yesterday afternoon. The president and board of directors were At Home to all the voluntary workers of the association, and also to the donors of special bedrooms in tho recently-erected hostel. In tho abscnco of Mrs. Bradstrect, Mrs. G. Wilson, a former president, received tho guests in tho hostel drawing room. Great bowls of arum lilies decorated tho room, in which closo on ono hundred guests were assembled, and in tho room opening out of it wero tho tastefullyarranged afternoon tea tables, on which orange Iceland poppies made a bright note of colour. Mrs. G. Buttle, Mrs. J. McKail Geddes and Airs. Enoch Woods (life members of the board) sent regrets at not being able to attrnd. A piano solo by Miss Winnie Haydon and songs sung by Mrs. Spencer preceded tho presiding director's remarks. Mrs. G. Wilson expressed the regret of all present, at tho absence of tho president, Mrs. .T. A. Bradstrect, owing to illness. Sho then declared the reappointment of all standing committees for tho ensuing year, and announced tho committee chairmen as follows Finance and executive, Mrs. Bradstrect; holiday house, Mrs. Wilson; hostel, Mrs. Dickinson; cafeteria, Mrs. Whitley; house, Mrs. H. Webster; activities, Miss l>mppey; .world fellowship; Mrs. Todd-Smith; library. Mrs. St. flair Inglis; immigration. Mrs. Cole. The. thanks and warm appreciation of the board to all volunteer workers, whom she described as the backbone of the association, were conveyed by Mrs. Wilw>n, who further pointed out that none of them was in this work for her own gratification, but for tho good of tho city. As chairman of Iho hostel committee, Mrs. J. C. Dickinson welcomed the members to tho hostel, which is a. home for girls, to the number of 60, who have no homes in this cil.y. Following afternoon tea. each <>f the donors of the rooms, or their representatives, accompanied by a member of tho board and a section of the guests, proceeded to the rooms assigned them. There a short ceremony was 'performed of presentation of tho key and formal opening of tho door.' Theso were:—The Charles Smith room, opened by Mrs. Charles Smith; the Barnett-Wil-lis room, opened by Mrs. Murdoch; tho Hooper room, opened by Mrs. B. Hooper; tho Kont room, opened by Mrs, Garrard; Epsom 1 room, by Miss Fleming! Epsom 2 room, by Mrs. L. Clarke; Hcruo Bay room, by Mrs. Cook; Parker room, by Mrs. Todd-Smith; WicUsteed room, by Mrs. Dickinson.
