WORK OF PARLIAMENT.
BUSINESS FOR THIS WEEK.
BUDGET DEBATE TO CONTINUE.
[by telegraph.—special reporter.] WELLINGTON, Monday.
Members of Parliament have utilised the past week-end as a sort of mid-term holiday, with the result that corridors and lobbies of the Houso havo worn a deserted air for tho past thrco days. Even members of the Cabinet havo joined in tho homeward trek, and only four Ministers wero at homo to callers to-day.
Tho debate on tho Financial Statement, which has now occupied two weeks, will bo continued to-morrow and it is expected to extend throughout tho week. With a view to making the best progress possible with tho debate the Government is not expected to introduce much other business that will lead to extended discussion. Thero has recently been a marked shrinkage in questions addressed to Ministers, so that tho usual Wednesday afternoon discussion on tho replies will probably bo lighter than usual this week. However, given tho best possible passage it seems unlikely that the Budget debato will bo finished this week.
