SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS.
CHANGE AT PUKEKOHE.
FOSTERING TECHNICAL COURSE
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.]
PUKEKOHE. Monday.
A new policy in tho allocation of scholarships was decided upon by tho board of managers of Pukekoho Technical High School this evening. It was resolved that tho allocation of scholarships in the general and commercial course be continued, and that the money bo used for augmenting the scholarships for the manual and agricultural courses. A further sum* was also voted for scholarships in other branches of the technical sido of the school. •
This means that scholarships now to bo awarded annually comprise ono of £3O in the woodwork course, ono of £lO in the agricultural course, ono of £5 in the mctalwOrk courso and one of £5 in the domestic science course.
Tho reasons given for the change were that it was felt that a greater number of pupils than present-day conditions warranted wero being attracted to tho academic and commercial courses, and that it would be an advantage to attract more pupils to tho technical courses.
