AMERICAN ACTRESS.
Although still a very young lady. Miss Ruth NOgent, leading lady with the J. C. Williamson Company which will open it comedy season at His Majesty's Theatre with "Applesauce," on Saturday evening, has had considerable stage experience. This is accounted for by the fact that she made her first appearance on the stage at the age of 19 months. Miss Nugent, who enjoyed greatly her stay in Australia, is looking* forward to her tour of the Dominion. She said Australian audiences showed keen appreciation of comedy and she was quite happy with her parts in the three plays in which she will appear in New Zealand. In the United States, Miss Nugent played recently in "Mr. Money-Penny," ''The Family Upstairs" and "The Constant Nymph." With the idea of having a short rest before the opening of the New Zealand tour, Miss Nugent and several other members of the company are now on o visit to Rotoraa. They will return to-morrow.
