BIRKDALE EVENING.
The Biikdale Women's Institute gave their first concert in the local hall recently. It was entitled " A Night Willi the Gypsies," and the bright dresses of the company looked very efiecMve against the green decorations of the stage. After an inspiriting opening chorus by the company, the following numbers were presented: —Duets nnd solos, Mr. and Mrs. Eeddoe; solos, Mrs. Clark. Mrs. Lee arid Mrs. C ill pan. with choruses bv the rest of the " Gyppos" ; monologue, Mrs. Wright; and" sketch by Mrs. Wright, assisted by Miss Bartlett. Two exhibitions of solo dancing by Miss Avcrille Collins were also enjoyed. The promoters of the concert were indebted to Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard for a 15 minutes musical entertainment. A dance concluded a most enjoyable evening.
