POPULAR GIRL CONTEST.
RESULT AT WAIMAUKU.
MONEY FOR HALL IMPROVEMENT.
The popular girl contest held at Waimauku was won by Miss Edith Coughlan, who was presented with a powder bowl and bouquet of flowers. The other competitor, Miss Rose Martin, was presented with a powder bowl. The object of the contest was to raise £SO to supplement the Coronation Hall building fund, but so liberal was the response of the residents that £l3O was collected. Of this sum the winner and her committee raised £77 and Miss Martin and her committee raised £53.
Speaking on behalf of the hall committee, Mr. J. H. L. Fray said a contract had been let for, enlarging' the hall up to a certain stage, and-.the oxtra amount of money could be used on improving the hall itself. The committee had thought it best to enlarge the floor space and leave minor improvements until more money was available, but now it was probable that all the improvements could bo completed at once. _
