NOTES I!V PICADOR. Tlio Auckland sportsman Mr. <"■. McMillan had the pleasure of winning the first race of the 1923-30 trotting season when his four-year-old trotter Koro Peter easily accounted "for the Introductory Handicap at Addington on Saturday. It would appear that Koro Peter is nil improved liorfio and there :s every likelihood of his showing further pood form as the season progresses. At the moment ho appears to be cuo of tho most prolixin;; yomiK trotters in the Dominion and lie should be iu the lira I. flight when liia powers reach full development.

Although ho only had (o record -lm 41 :!-5s in winning tlie August Handicap fit Adding* (on on Saturday. Roi l'Or succeeded in qualifying for the New Zealand trotting Cup, for, as a result of the performance, he has been handicapped on 4m 06s in the King George Handicap. This enables him to »ome in under tho " that have been handicapped to do" condition, and ho certainly promises to be n worthy candidate for the Dominion's richest light-harness event in November. Considering that he notched four wins and two seconds in seven starts last season. Roi l'Or was at an exceedingly good price in his latest success, but tlieio were so many good horses engaged that some had to be passed over, and it was probably a ease of most recent form being considered best.

When tho Australian-bred trotter Bonnie Bclm«nt romped home in a two-mile event at Forbury Purk last season it was expected that he would have no difficulty in attaining further success, but ho temporarily lost form and raced moderately. For several months now ho has been under the cure of C. Donald and he has apparently done well for that trainer, as ho easily accounted for a useful field in the Stewards' Handicap at Addincton 'on Saturday. If ho displays similar dash in future engagements, llonnie Belmont should add further to his laurels this season.

Neither Carmel nor Native Prince performed up t« expectations at Addington on Saturday. Corniel was favourite for lh« Trial Handicap, but he does not appear to have been in the picture ut uny stage Native Prince was produced in the Inter national Handicap, but ho broko up at the start and evidently settled any chance he possessed. Possibly tho pair may lace in improved fashion before tho meeting concludes.

On more than one occasion Padlock has demonstrated that lie is a pneer of move than average ability utul ho gavo n furtlicj t-.vste of his quality in winning tho International Handicap in 2in 12s at Addington on Saturday. Doubtless the track was in better order when ho rncfd than it was earlier in tho day, but under tho conditions his performance appeals to have been particularly meritorious. Fit and well. Padlock is a brilliant horse over all distances and ho is seemingly at the top of his form at present.
