MOTOR-CAR DRIVER CHARGED
When Joseph Clarke, aged 32, an engineer, was charged in the Police Court yesterday with being intoxicated while in chrtrgo of a motor-car in Broadway, Newmarket, on Saturday, a remand until tomorrow was granted on tho application of Mr. Singer. Bail was renewed in one surety of £SO.
Separate charges of assaulting two Chinese, Ah Chung and Ah Lok, at Avondale on Saturday, were preferred against Monte Grace, alias Ilaki Iloani, alias Jack Jones, a Maori labourer, aged 24, who denied the offences. On tho application of Sub-inspector McCarthy accused was remanded to appear on Thursday, bail being granted in the stun of £lO. Accused was warned not to go near the Chinese in tho meanwhile.
