SUGGESTED NEW OUTLET FOR SOUTHERN AND EASTERN TRAFFIC FROM AUCKLAND CITY.
In this plan, prepared by Mr. A. L. Fer|neyhough, an Auckland architect, an alternative route to that proposed by the Town Planning Association is suggested. The route, shown in heavy black, follows the existing railway line from Breakwater Road, crossing Parnell Rise by an overhead bridge. Then the road enters the double Parnell tunnel, which would be converted into a concrete highway, while t e railway traffic—vastly less because of the opening of the Westfield deviation—would be diverted to the old single tunnel. The route then follows through the .Newmarket railway yards to the Great South Road. '
