COMPETITIONS SOCIETY.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR OCTOBER

KEEPING FAITH WITH PUBLIC.

A decision <V hold competitions in the Lewis Eady Hall from October 17 to October 26, inclusive, was made by the finance committee of the Auckland Competitions Society yesterday. Prize-winners in the junior sections will receive silver medals and bronze medallions instead of o-t.-h award.*, as in previous years.

Mr. J. A. Sharp, who has been appointed secretary following the resignation of Mr. Frank Adeane, said yesterday that the society now had tho support of a number of business men, and would do its best to make the occasion a success. The competitions would be run on conservative ljnes, so that-there would be no possibility of a breach of faith with the public. An attempt would bo made to have tho prizes displayed in a shop window at least three or four days before the competitions commence, and tho syllabus would be issued in about a week. It has been arranged that with perhaps one exception tho judges will be from outLido centres. ■
