MISHAP ON COLLEGE HILL

DRIVER COLLAPSES ON ROAD.

DEATH FOLLOWS IN HOSPITAL. Following a collision between his motorcar and a tramway centre-pole on College Hill on Saturday afternoon, Mr. Albert Edward Walker, aged 47, of 23, Arthur Street, Ponsonbv, collapsed and died in the Auckland Hospital at 5.45 p.m., a little over an hour after the accident. The car struck the centre-pole with great forco as Mr. Walker was driving out of Wood Street across College Hill. Mr. Walker extricated himself, and while standing by the car inspecting the damage suddenly collapsed. lie was taken to the hospital by the St. John Ambulance in an unconscious condition.

Such was the force of the impact that the front axle of the car was bijcklcd round the pole, and the steering wheel was back against the driver's scat. Mr. Walker did not appear to have suffered any serious external injuries.
