MATANGI POLO BALL.

o> The most brilliant function of tlio season took place in the Cambridge Town llull on Thursday evening, when tho Matangi Polo Club held their annual ball. Mrs. Franklin, the president's wife, and Mrs. G. do Vcrc Chitty, of Hamilton, were tho hostesses of the evening. Also on the committee were Mrs. W. S. Ranstead, Mrs. (_!. Ranstead, Mrs. T. Ranstead, Mrs. R. Ranstead, Mrs. C. Clarkin, Mrs. Townsend, Mrs. Johns, Mrs. P. Clarkin, Mrs. T. Hinton, Mrs. Pilkinglon, Mrs. Harrington, Mrs. D. Kidd, Mrs. J. McNicol, Miss Shaw, Miss Townsend, Miss A. Brown, Miss Chitty. Tho supper initio decorations wore beautiful, and consisted of pink c»inielli»is. Iceland poppies and other spring (lowers. They were arranged by Mrs. do Veic Chitty. A delicious sit-down supper was provided, and a great innovation and im pvovement was a buffet all round the room, which added greatly to (lie comfoit of tho guests. The stage was decorated with foliage and wattle, and was used for sitting out. The Hamilton Band was stationed there also. Iho masters of the ceremony were Mr. R. lli nton, Mi- L. Ranstead, Mr. C.
