MILITARY OBJECTORS.
Sir, —May I comment on your report of the debate by. the North Auckland Presbytery on conscientious objectors in Friday's Herald. As convener of flto public questions committee I had to open the discussion and to do so I moved tlio resolutions of the assembly's coinmitleo on the matter. I also read the let tor of the clerk of the assembly in reply to the Hon. C». M. Thomson. T v.,13 satisfied to quote leaders in the Church. The statement that I strongly supported the students is apt to misrepresent me. In the claim for the rights of the individual conscience I did support them, but I did not, and never have, supported them in refusing non-military service, in fact, I was pleased when I was able to go before the magistrate at Auckland last month and state that my son wnjs willing to undertake the hospital servico prescribed, though under protest. M. J. Byht, Clerk of North Auckland Presbytery. Mangapai, August 9.
