SYDNEY SJR.IKE LEADERS.

STATEMENTS IN NEWSPAPER. SYDNEY. Aug. 10. Instructions have been given for the issue of writs claiming £70,000 damages for alleged libel from the Sydney Morning Herald, on behalf of seven of the leaders of the timber trade strike, who at present are on remand on charges of conspiracy.

The citation of the Herald for contempt of Court is also proposed, and the solicitors havo been directed to consider the advisability of taking action against the Minister of Mines, Mr. E. W. Weaver.
