RAILWAY LEAGUE'S REQUEST.

The Opotiki Chamber of Commerce wet last evening, the president, Mr. W.' J. Seott, presiding. The chamber decided to support the Auckland Chambci s monthly journal as far as possiblo and to forward reports of the monthly meetings. A letter was received from the Auckland Chamber Regarding employment of city boys on farms. It. was decided to cooperate with tho local branch of tho Farmers' Union in tho matter.

The president gave a report of the proceedings at the first provincial conference of chambers held at Auckland. Correspondence was read from the Post-master-General with regard to a request for-a daily parcel mail from Auckland to Opotiki". Tho reply was considered unsatisfactory and it was decided to make furl her representations. Support is to bo given to n request of the Opotiki Railway League that the road through the Waimana Gorge be put on the other side of the river and that tho work be started as soon as possiblo, thereby providing work for Auckland unemployed and also ensuring that railway construction shall not be delayed 'next) year. Tho Auckland 'Chamber is to be asked to support the request. The Prime .Minister is to bo asked to pnt. a sum on the Estimates for tho construction of tho 'railway.
