ON HIS WAY TO AUCKLAND. MINISTER TO MEET PREMIER. {Received 1. 11.50 p.ni.) SYDNEY, Aug. 1. Mr. E. H. Farrar, New South Wales Minister of Labour and Industry, is to sail by the Ulimaroa to-morrow for Auckland to meet tho Premier, Mr. T. R. Bavin, who is on his way to Auckland by the Maktira, which sailed from Vancouver on July 24 and is duo at Auckland on August 12.

A message from Paris says the Chamber of Deputies passed a vote of confidence in the now Premier, M. Briand, by 325 votes to 136. The House then rose for the summer recess. A British official wireless message says the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Arthur Henderson, telegraphed to M. Briand congratulating him upon his assumption of the Premiership of France, an office he had filled with such distinction in the past. Mr. Henderson said lie looked forward to congratulating M. Briand personally when tliev met shortly to collaborate in furthering the great work of peace.
