TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours front 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last ovening:—Fair to fino weather is indicated over most of tho Dominion, with very cold nights and frosts inland. A fewisolated showers, chiefly in coastal areas, are likely, but conditions aro improving throughout Now Zealand. Southerly winds, moderate to strong, decreasing. Fairly rough sens in and southward of Cook Strait, although moderating. Tho high barometric pressure system, enclosing an area of fino weather, is now being established over tho Dominion, and pressure should gradually increase further Mainly fino weather, with clear skies, is expected during tho week-end. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Pressure is still low to the east, but an anti-cyclone is now advancing on to tho south-west lasman Sea. Indications arc for south-west erly winds, moderate to strong north of Kawhia and East Cape and south of Akaroa, elsewhere light to moderate. Still a considerable swell on tho east coast south ot' East Cape, otherwise moderate. Moderate southerly winds and moderate seas in the eastern Tnsman Sea. Weather mainly fine generally, but still some scattered showers at first in tho northern and southern extremities of tho Dominion. Cold night temperatures with many frosts RAINFALL RECORD.
