MANY CASES OF THEFT.
CARS THROWN INTO DAMS
SYDNEY, July 16.
The ciime wave in Sydney continued last week. There were 54 cases of robberies of shops and dwellings. The list was increased by 30 small miscellaneous thefts. Twenty-three motor-cars arc reported to have heen stolen.
Last evening the police arrested five men who are suspected of having been responsible for the thefts of the cars. Fifteen motor-cycles and cars were recovered, some from dams and riverbeds, into which they had been thrown when the gang, became frightened.
