COAL FOR GASWORKS.
SHORTAGE IN DUNEDtN.
POSITION BECOMES SERIOUS.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PREPS ASSOCIATION*.] DUNEDIN. Tuesday. Unless further supplies of coal are obtained from the West Coast, a serious shortage is likely to cause great inconvenience in the supply of gas from the Dunedin corporation gasworks, where thero is less than a week's supply. Since the beginning of the month only 153 tons have come to the works, where 350 tons are carbonised weekly. The Mayor of Dunedin this morning sent a telegram to the Hon. W. B. Taverner, Minister of Railways, pointing out the seriousness of the position and asking to have supplies expedited.
