NEW ZEALAND CLIPS.

SLIGHTLY FIRMER TONE.

Australian Press Association—United Service LONDON. July 16. At tho London wool sales to-day 11,129 bales wore sold. There was a good average selection of Merinos, both spinners' and topmakers' styles, a poor offering of greasy crossbreds and a good supply of slipes. New Zealand scoured Merinos and crossbreds were well represented. Prices wero unchanged but slightly firmer in tone. New Zealand clips sold as follows: Dunstan Downs, 38d to 35id; "Glentanner," 36d to 35Jd.

LATE RATES NOT MAINTAINED

Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having received tho following cablegram from their London house, dated July 15: The wool sales continue irregular Lately reported rates are not maintained. As compared with tho closing rates of tho last series, average to good Merino is 7i per cent, to 10 per cent, lower; Merino short nnd faulty, 10 per cent, lower, fully; crossbred medium and coarse, 10 per cent, lower; crossbred coarse, 5 per cent, to 7' s per cent, lower. The sales will closo on July 23. We will sell on July 18 and 22.

"BOOM" ISSUE IN VICTORIA

Never before in the historv of Australia has any company flotation keen attended by the extraordinary results of the offer to the public of 200,000 £1 shares on account of Peters American Delicacy (Victoria), Limited, being formed to manufacture and market "Peters Ice Cream" in Victoria. The company is an otl-shcot of a Sydney company, whoso shares stand at a premium of over 200 per cent. There was an unprecedented rash for shares, giving rise to excited scenes reminiscent of the days of the gold and silver "booms." 'No fewer than 2.290,299 shares, were represented in the 6585 applications received. The directors resolved to allot in full applications up to 30 shares, and allot to all other applicants 50 shares each, which exhausts ino total public issue of 200,0C0 shares, except a small number which constitutes fractional divisions. The market within a day or so advanced to a premium of 5s a share. Following the announcement of the allotment, prices reacted to 4s 4d premium.

MARKET REPORTS

FRUIT AND PRODUCE PRICES. Choice Delicious apples realised slightly higher prices at the Auckland City Markets yesterdav, the other lines of apples remaining at last week's rates. There was a good demand for lemons. Hothouse tomatoes continued to rise in value, selling at lOd to 2s 4d per lb. Island oranges sold at the slightly decreased price of 22s 6d to 24s a case. Repacked first-grade bananas brought 21s to 23s a case. A medium quantity of Australian citrus fruit arrived by tho Marama yesterday morning. The fruit was in very good order, passions and mandarins selling at increased rates. Pines, however, showed a slight decrease. Cabbage, swedes, turnips and pumpkins continued to bo in heavy supply in the field produce market. Largo quantities of all root vegetables were"also available, and met with a fair demand. The best quality cauliflowers were considerably cheaper, the prices for tho other lines remaining about tho same. In the dairy produce section there was a good demand for moderate supplies of both hen and duck eggs. The prices were a penny a dozen dearer. Farmers' butter was again in short supply and met with a pood demand, selling at tho ruling rate of Is Id to Is 4d per lb. The following are yesterday's prices:— FRUIT. Apple.
