LAND SETTLEMENT.
Sir, —May I draw attention to a case bearing on the pretensions of the present Government to put an end to land aggregation. In the Aotearoa block, situated about 27 miies from Te Awarnutu, there is some very good country, and one section of some 400 acres, with a cottage and shed, becamo vacant through the settler, a returned soldier, having failed to pay his way. The Government ejected the settler, who is a married man with six children, although for some time the family had left the place and lived in To Awamutu. This larin has recently been disposed of to a next-door neighbour, who already has over 900 acres of partly-improved land, and also a nice little far-»i of 50 odd acres at Kihikihi. In spite n-l the land this man holds, the Governrm..it has let him have this extra 400 odd ..cres five years for nothing, without balloting for it to give anyone else a chance to get it. One Who Knows.
