FIRM TONE OF MARKET

Offers for Government securities and local body debentures were practically unchanged on the Auckland Stock Lxchango yesterday. Stocks for the most part were firmly held, there being very few quotations and no sales. hi banks there was a snlo of Commercials at 50s Id, one penny firmer than the last transaction. Lato buyers offered 29s lid, sellers advancing to 30s 2d. A late sale on Monday of New South Wales (.Melbourne register) at £sl 15s was recorded. Yesterday sellers were not attracted bv offers at £sl 10s. In insurance offers were on a parity with current rates, holders remaining firm Nationals were done at 16s od, equal to tho last sale. In loan and agency offers for I*armcrs Co-operatives were advanced 2s, without response. Offers wcro renewed at 47s 3d for Goldsbrough, Worts, which changed hands at that figure. More were sought at -17s, sellers quoting 47s 6d. Coal shares were, in firm demand at current and increased rates, buyers advancing 3d to 27s 6d for Taupiris, without attract ing quotations. In gas Aucklands, both ordinary and contributing, changed hands. Ordinary shares were done at 24s 8d and 24s 9d, and contributing at 10s 4d and 13s 5d (twice). New Zealand Breweries wcro slightly easier, buyers offering 79s 6d and sellers quoting 80s, or 6d lower than tho level of the previous day's closing price. In miscellaneous Auckland Amusement Parks were quoted at 2s, but buyers dropped ono penny to Bd. British Tobaccos wcro in demand at 48s, sellers opening at 48s 9d and casing 3d. In mining YVaihis sold a trifle easier at 12s. Kuala Kampar Tins were done at 14s, Is Id easier than tho last sale, which took place in March. At tho lato call buyers offered 13s 10d, sellers 14s 2d.
