Vincent last evening:— Unsettled weather is indicated generally, with heavy thunder-showers, accompanied by hail, in places near the west coast, and snow cn the southern highlands Heavy rain is expected in western districts m southern parts of the South Island, with rivers flooded. Mainly fair conditions should rule along tho east coast, with scattered showers. Westerly to south-westerly winds, strong and squally. Rough seas on tho west coast. The oxtensiva disturbance, which occupies most of tho southern Tasman Sea and Now Zealand, is likely to cause, stormy weather, especially in the south, and a spoil of westerly weather is expected. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—Tho depression mentioned yesterday is now centred south of Akaroa. An intenso anti-cyclone is moving on to south-eastern Australia. Indications are for westerly winds at first, but backing gradually to southerly, moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in exposed positions. Seas moderate in coastal waters north of Castlepoint, otherwise rough generally. Strong south-westerly winds to gales and rough seas in tho eastern Tasman. Weather changeable, with passing showers in most districts, and heavy in places. Tc-mpera-turo becoming cold. Snow probable in parts of Canterbury and Otago and hail on parts of the coast.
