WOMEN AS ROWERS.
PLAN FOR ENCOURAGEMENT.
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION
LONDON. July 7,
With the approval of Australia, France, Germany, and other nations, the British Women's Amateur Rowing Association has decided to form an international association to encourage and organise rowing among women.
The chairman, Miss Gedge, contested the view that rowing was essentially a man's sport. Women, she said, had definitel.v made up their minds to row, and an international association would be the best safeguard against abuses. In reply to the association's invitations, a communication from Holland stated that Dutch women were absolutely restrained from boat racing.
