[BY TIXI.ORAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Friday For tho first timo since tiis recapture at Brunnerton, the story of William Rainsdon Avery's escape from Duncdin Gaol on Juno 6 was told to-day. Avery walked out of tho prison gato early in tho morning, when it was open for tradesmen. Ho crossed the railway lino to whero the steamer Karctu was lying, and, according to his talc, ho was secreted on board by some of tho crew. Ho left the vessel ,at Lyttclton, stolo a bicycle and cycled to Greymouth. Thonco ho went to Brunnerton, where he obtained work in the mines.

To-day Avery was charged with stealing a motor-car at C'avo on May 18, with committing another theft at Momona on May 21, with burglary and tho theft of a safe at Duncdin, and with oscaping from prison. lie pleaded guilty, and was committed for sentence on all charges.
