MONEY FROM THE NORTH.

A fine response has been made by Thames Valley towns to appeals tor subscriptions to the earthquake fund. The Te Aroha fund amounts to over £550, the Morrinsvillo fund to £260, and the Thames fund is mounting to the £2OO mark. The Paeroa fund is also mounting steadily. The Hauraki Plains County Council headed a list at Ngatea -with a donation of £SO.

The Whangarei County Council has decided to contribute £SO for the relief of distress caused by the earthquake. The money is to be sent to the Mayor of Nelson. The Northern Advocate fund to dates amounts to £533. As the result of the concert at Waipu on Thursday night the sum of £44 was collected for th» earthquake fund. At the conclusion of the programme a committee was set up t« work the Waipu district for funds.

THE MAYOR'S FUND.

FURTHER £99 RECEIVED. Contributions amounting to £99 13s 5d were (received for the Mayor's earthquake relief fund yesterday. Details are:—Previously received, £9789 12s 3d; St.' Stephen's Church, £2B 12s lid; Thame* Girls' Club, £2O; employees Westfiaid Freezing Works, £l7 15s; Plummer Eat Company and staff, £l2 4s 6d; North N.Z. conference of Seventh Day Adveritists, £lO 10s; Union Steam Ship Company, repair department, £5 15s; G. H. Gray, £2; Henderson Presbyterian Church, further donation, £1 6s; West Street Church of Christ, second instalment, £1; Mrs. V.R., 10s; total to date, £9889 5s Bd.

FURTHER DONATIONS TOTAL RECEIPTS NOW ' £8601, 0 Subscriptions received yesterday raise to £8601 7s 4d the Herald and Weekly News fund for assisting those who have been caused financial loss by the earthquake.
