MONEY FOR ROADS.

REDUCED NORTHERN VOTE. " MISLEADING PROPAGANDA." Luv TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. I WHANG AREI, Friday. The Whangarei County Council has re-* ceivc-d a letter from .Mi'. IL M. Rushworth, M.P. for Bay of Islands, regarding efforts being made to combat the Government's proposal to change the system of automatic allocation of public moneys for public works. After referring to the deputation from the North which recently waited on the Minister of Public Works, Mr. Rushworth said: —"Since then I have tiad several private conversations with the Minister of Public Works, other Ministers and a number of private members and it emerges quite clearly that they have the idea fixed in their minds that the Far North has obtained in recent years more than its fair share of public money. This idea was formed and fostered by the very unwise and misleading propaganda that was issued during the two recent political campaigns in the Bay of Islands. "Realising the danger of allowing this misconception to bo spread abroad I did my best during the two campaigns to counter it by insisting on the true facts of the case, but the damage has been done and much hard and difficult work will bo required if this erroneous idea is to bo dispelled. I trust that your council will continue to co operate with me and with the members for Kaipara and Marsden in our endeavours to obtain a fair deal in all matters affecting our part of the countrv."
