FARMING CLUBS.

One of the most educationally profitable and essential features of agricultural instruction are agricultural clubs. The essence of the agricultural club idea is that the student shall carry out at his oilier own home some project for pleasure and profit, such as calf-rearing or pigkeeping, root crop or maize growing, vegetable or flower culture, poultry or bee-keeping. Jn each case the student requires instruction as to how each project shall bo conducted. The agricultural high scluiol provides the basis for this instruction and gives inspiration for initiative, and insists on strict attention to the keeping of detailed accounts of profits and losses in connection with each project. It is well recognised that agricultural clubs have done much to foster initiative and application of knowledge among boys and girls. The pupils of the agricultural classes of t ho Seddon Memorial Technical College, at Auckland, last year undertook club work in many branches and showed an aggregate profit of £l5O.
