OBITUARY.

MR. CHARLES LEVET.

The death has occurred of Mr. Charles Level, aged 82, who arrived from England in tho ship Hanover in 1862, his parents being among the first, party of settlers to go t<i Albertland. Ho was the second son of the lato Mr. Charles Levet, of Wellsford, and ho worked on his father's farm for several years. When tho first block of land was opened at Hoteo North under tho homestead system lie took up ono of the first sections with bis oldor brothers, and they worked tho property successfully. Some years later Air. Levet sold his interest in tho farm to a brother and acquired land at Hairini, in the Waikalo. For 20 years prior to retiring in 1926 he was farming ut Mangere. lio was nil activo moniber of tho Church of England all his life, and was a cbor ister in Ely Cathedral.. Air. Levet married the second daughter of the lato Air. John Brown, of To Aria. Ho is survived by his wifo and two sons, Air. R. Level, of Mount Albert, and Air. I. Levet, of Waimauku. Thero aro seven grandchildren.

Tho death occurred in Wellington last Sunday of tho Rev. William S. Fornic, a former minister of the Courtenay Place Congregational Church, at tho ago of 83 years. Tho late Mr, Pernio accepted a call to tho Courtenay Place Church from South Australia about 1908, and was minister there for some seven or eight years, after which ho accepted a call to the Leith Street Church, Dunedin. Eight or nino years ago ho retired from tho ministry, and returned to Wellington, whero he lived with his daughter, Mrs. D. E. Barnes, of Wadestown, until his death. Sho is his only child. His wife died'somo twelve years ago. Tho late Mr. Fcrnie was a man of retiring disposition, though ho made many friends. At tho time of his death ho was a deacon of tho Terrace Congregational Church.

Tho death has occurred of Mrs. Mary Jane Peat, one of tho best-known residents of the district. . Sho was born at Wanganui 78 years ago. Her father was Sergeant-Major Daniol Hughes.
