■ TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST,

Tlio following woatlier forecast for 24 liam'ci from 7 a.n.. to-day was supplied to u.s by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening -Unsettled weather is indicated, willi a scattered rainfall, and much fog in coastal areas. Heavy rain is expected over most ol tho Auckland Province, lint with intervening fair intervals, and mainly fine temporarily in places southward of New Plymouth and Napier. Scattered thunderstorms, accompanied by hail, are likely in tho Waikato and west coast districts. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, freshening, and hacking by west to sotith. Fairly rough seas on both the west and east coasts and in Cook Strait. Cold temperatures. The secondary depression is now moving on to the North Island, and a renewal of unsettled weather is expected, followed by an early and general improvement, however, and succeeded by fine weather. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening, as follows: —-V moderate anti cyclone is moving from the north Tasman Sea on to New Zealand. A now depression is approaching • south-eastern Australia. Indications aro for southwesterly to westerly winds, and mainly light to moderate. Seas in New Zealand waters generally smooth to moderate. Light south-westerly winds in tho Tasman Sea, veering tr west and north, and later freshening in tho eastern portion, with smooth to moderate seas. Weather mainly fine, but a few showers at first in western districts and tlie far south. Cold night temperatures with frosts.
