COMFORT FOR SMOKERS. } TOBACCO NOT A CAUSE. Australian Press Association —United Service (Received July 9. 12.5 a.m.) LONDON, July 6. Smokers will bo reassured by a report tailed hy the Grand Council of the British Empire Cancer Campaign. This states that after a series of experiments it has been found to bo impossible to prove that tobacco smoking lias any effect as ;i cancer-producing agent either On tho tonguo from pipe-smoking or on the lung from cigarette smoking. Radium now has definitely taken its place alongside operations as a means of curing cancer. It seems to be fairly certain that bv the use of radium in addition to the removal of a growth by an operation, n great improvement in the Proportion of the cures obtained will be secured in the near future, says the report.
