BUSHMAN CUTS OFF HAND.
LIFE SAVED BY MATE. STRANGE CASE ON STATION. [by telegram.—rnr.ss association.] GISBORNE, Monday. A man engaged on a bush contract on a station near Gisborno is believed to have attempted' to take his own lifo in an extraordinary manner last week. Tho man left what evidently he intended to be his last letter to his mother, written in his own blood, and on returning to camp-in tho evening his mate discovered him with both his wrists cut, and suffering from loss of blood. He succeeded# in persuading the injured man to allow him to attend to his injuries, but subsequently, .during tho absonco of his mate, tho apparently demented man cut off one of his hands at tho wrist, lie is recovering now from his injuries.
