PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
PROGRESS IN AUCKLAND* ACTIVE BUILDING PROGRAMME. Evidence of the progrtss of the Presbyterian Church in Auckland is. provided in tlio present building and other activities in the city and suburbs. A new brick Sunday School hall at New Lynn is uearing completion. The On-i----hunga Church is being altered and rer.ovated, and a small hall has receut.'y been purchased. The hall has been moved to the church property, and is now being u*ed as a Bible class room and a club loom. The Presbyterians of Ellerslie have made a good beginning with their largo hall, which is being built mainly by free labour. A largo army of voluntary workers has been engaged for the past two Saturdays, taking advantage of tho fine weatb«?r, with the result that tho hall buildiag is now taking shape. Alterations to Edendale Church were recently completed.
The Mount Eden Presbyterians hope to make a start shortly with a suite of Bills class rooms, which will include a Lrgo social hall. Five new tennis courts wet»; recently opened at St. John's, Papatocw. adding to the attractions for the young people of a rapidly-growing district Several other building programmes, niairJ.y to meet Hie growing demands for Sunday School and Bible Class accommodation, arc under consideration by other congregations. Four elders were recently inducted into the eldership of the Mount Eden Presbyterian Church, these being the Rev. W. J. Comrie. Mr. J. E. Haywood, Mr. R. Lynburn, son of the Rev. J. Lvmburn, and Mr. D. G. Bissett, son of the Rev. John Bissett, assembly evangelist. At the induction service, the pastor of the charge, the Rev. L. 11. Hunt, expressed particular pleasure at receiving into their ranks Mr Comrie. who was formerly treasurer-gen-eral of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, and an ex-Moderator of the General Assembly. A cablegram from Dr. Harvey, se.iior clerk of the United Free Church Assembly in Scotland, received by the cierk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Ohurch of New Zealand, states that the union of churches has been fixed for j October 2.
