TWO GIRLS TERRIFIED.

An uncanny incident which has happened near Minehcad, England, and has caused much talk arc? ri ng Mipoistitious Exmoor folk, was related recently. It concerns two girls of Wootton Courtenay and a villago dance at Wheddon Cross, near Dunkcry Beacon. •Leaving the dance at midnight they started out to walk home. When at a lonely part of the road they suddenly saw a great black shape coming toward them accompanied by rustling noises As it came nearer they saw it was a ghostly hearse drawn by four hcadles horses. Terribly frightened the girls turned round and ran all the way back to the dance, where they told the merrymakers about the apparition. Then, to their surprise, they were told for the first time the Exmoor legend of the Phaptom Funeral Hearse, such as they had described, which Emoor folk say haunts the road between Dunster and Wheddou Cross when the powers of darkness are at their zenith. ,
