PARSON'S NOVEL ROLE.
TOBACCO SHOP DEDICATED.
A Church of England clergyman, in his robes, performed an unusual dedication ceremony at Bath a few weeks ago. The place dedicated was a new tobacconist establishment on Pulteney Bridge, a historic structure after the stylo of the Ponte Vecchia at Florence. The shop was formally opened with a golden key by the little son of the proprietor. Mr Charmbury. The Rev. FT. G. Gooding, curate of St. John's, Bath, with the concurrence of the Archdeacon of Bath, performed the dedication. He opened with a prayer for " all who work in this place," read the 127t.h Psalm, sprinkled the walls with holy water, and in a final praver asked that the shop might be an abode of justice and righteous dea'ing. He said that business must havo religion.
