THE ROTARY CLUB.
ACTIVITIES DURING YEAR.
INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP.
Considerable activity during the year is recorded in the report of the Auckland Rotary Club, which will be presented at the annual meeting to bo held in the Lewis Eady Hall on Monday. The membership of the club, which was 130 on July 1, 1928, has increased to 144, and there are two honorary members. The main activity of the year was tho raising of £BOO for the erection of a Y.M.C.A. hut at Hunua. Several of the members made visits to smaller clubs and gave addresses. Five vocational addresses were given by members from IYA station. with the object of assisting parents to secure employment for their children. The club had guaranteed the salary of an instructor to orgaiiiso a harmonica band among the children of the Play and Recreation Association. Receipts from the Sunshine Box for charity amounted to £278.
Reports of the various committees show that advanco has been made in every department. It is stated the Business Methods Committee had founds it very difficult to function or to suggest ideas which would be of any assistance in creating better business methods. Advice had benn sought from all clubs in New Zealand, but no suggestions of any value had been received. It was thought better that individual llotarians in their own spheres should maintain business methods on a high plane. The musical committee was reported to have functioned well, the principal activities being the holding of two concerts at Knox and a concert at the Veterans' Homo. The Education Committee held three forums during the year, these proving interesting and helpful. The report states the year was concluded with practically the same cash balance as was brought forward. This was made possible by the transfer of £IOO from the Sunshine Fund, recouping general funds for outlay over several years. Receipts totalled £1579, the cash balance being £127.
