DESPONDENT WOMAN.
AT THE SYDNEY " GAP." TAKEN AWAY BY THE POLICE. Shortly before. midnight one night re cently a woman alighted from a Watson's Bay tram at its terminus and walked to The Gap, says a Sydney paper. The next day shortly before noon, she was intercepted by two policemen near the erlge of the cliffs. tor 12 hours, the woman said, she had wandered ne.ii the spot, endeavouring to induce a mental condition that would allow hoi to throw herself ovor the cliff. Many times she had wandered to the edgo, had stood poised thero, and had weakened in tier purpose. Tho woman, a widow from a country town, said that she suffered from a nervous complaint. Sho was taken by tho police to a reception house.
