COX'S CREEK.

Sir, —It is gratifying to see Councillor Murray now applying his undoubted ability to matters of real urgency and importance, instead as hitherto wasting valuable, time chasing obvious myths. I refer to his advocacy of filling in Cox's Creek, Some two years ago the City Council turned this project down on account of expense, deciding to fill it in as free spoil became available. _ At the present rate of progress there is no one now living who will ever see this crying need accomplished. At certain seasons this noisome morass is a distinct menace to health, as witnessed by _ the unduly large number of children living in this neighbourhood who annually suffer from throat and stomach afflictions. Furthermore, on its margin out of reach of tidal water, pockets of stagnant water lie all the year round, a veritable hot-bed for mosquitoes. Apart from assisting the unemployed the filling in of this muck heap will benefit thousands of ratepayers who have built their homes in this progressive neighbourhood: A. R. Gregory. 10, Rawene Avenue, West End.-
