STRUCK BY CRANE.
WORKMAN HURT AT KAITAIA.: [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] KAITAIA. Friday. An employee of the drainage department, Mr. Dennis Branch, aged 25, received an injury to the head while attempting to lift a buried tree trunk of considerable size from the old bed of the Whangatane River by means of a crane on a dredge. He was struck by part of the crane. He resumed work for a time, but last night complained of severe pains in the head and was taken to hospital. It was reported this morning that he was progressing satisfactorily. Mr. . Branch, who is single, comes from Thames.
