MOTORING ACCIDENTS.
CAR FALLS FORTY FEET. TWO OCCUPANTS UNINJURED. [BY TELEGRAPH. OVW CORRESPONDENT. ] TAIHAPE, Friday. A motor-car containing Messrs. T, J. Keir and C. Young, commercial travellers, employed by Messrs. Levin and Company, of Wanganui, ■went over a bank about 40ft. high last evening. Ta«e accident occurred on the Mataroa Roac!, near Mr. Joseph Murphy's farm, about five miles from Taihape. The car turned two complete somersaults before coming to rest. By a miracle Messrs. Keir and Young ■were not injured and they crawled out from under the vehicle. The car was extensively damaged. Mr. Keir said the accident was caused through the steering gear becoming locked.
SERVICE OAS OVER BANK. PASSENGERS ESCAPE INJURY. A narrow escape from serious injury was experienced by the passengers in a service car, which ran over a bank and fell on its side at. Papakura about 10 o'clock on Thursday evening. The car, which was travelling from Hamilton to Auckland, skidded for about 50yds. on the unconcreted road just outside Papakura, and although, the brakes wero applied the vehicle fell over a bank for a distance of 'about'6ft: One of the passengers broke a window, and crawling out, wrenched open the door, and released the other occupants. Apart from sustaining bruises and suffering from shock, none of the occupants was injured. The car was not damaged to any extent.
OAR STRIKES POWER POLE. FACIAL INJURIES TO DRIVER. A car returning from Pukemiro to Auckland struck an electric-power pole on the side of the Great-South Road, on Thursday night, a little distance north of th 9 Presbyterian 'Church corner at Papakura. The driver, Mr. Reginald Newcombe, of Homai Road, Remuera, who was the only occupant, sustained severe facial injuries through the shattering of th 6 glass of the windscreen, and the car was extensively damaged. The impact moved the power pole some inches and broke wires it was carrying.
